Lip lightening is a laser treatment that fades dark lip pigmentation to restore its natural pink color. At Hokama Najd Medical Polyclinic in Al Olaya, Riyadh, it is performed with a Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser (Lutronic Spectra) — no injections, no materials — under the supervision of a dermatology and cosmetic specialist, over one to three sessions.

What's the problem?
Lips lose their pink color and turn brown or grey for common reasons: smoking, prolonged sun exposure, chronic dryness, certain medications, or inherited pigmentation.
The result is darker lips that make the face look older and less vibrant — even with lipstick on.
How we treat it
We use a Korean-made Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser (Lutronic Spectra). The laser targets the dark pigment in the lip's surface layer and breaks it down, so the lip's natural color gradually returns — without changing its size or shape.
The service starts with an assessment by Dr. Nabiha Al-Sharnouby, a dermatology and cosmetic specialist, to determine the cause and degree of the pigmentation.
The session itself is short, with a topical anaesthetic applied beforehand. One to three sessions are needed depending on the degree of pigmentation, spaced three to four weeks apart.
We'll say it plainly
If the cause is ongoing — smoking, for example — the color will return over time. The laser treats existing pigment; it doesn't prevent new pigment from forming.
